We can all be a little confused about the signs of high blood pressure. It's known as the silent killer! That can be scary if you aren't sure whether you have it or not.

Here are a few tips to help alleviate some of your fears about high blood pressure.

1. It can be controlled

High blood pressure can be controlled through diet and exercise and regular visits to your doctor. Try to stay away from foods with high salt content and be sure to eat your fair share of fruits and vegetables. As usual, be sure to exercise regularly. This will help you to stay fit and keep your blood levels under control.

2. Regular checkups help

Be sure to have your blood pressure checked regularly. Your number one resource is your doctor. If your blood pressure has gone up, he will give you advice on how to lower it. But also be proactive and check your own pressure regularly with a home blood pressure monitor. Keep a chart or a journal and note what you ate during the day to get a glimpse of which foods might be causing your blood pressure to rise. Blood pressure monitors are fairly inexpensive and can help alert you to any changes in your blood pressure.

3. Live stress free

It might be difficult, but try to reduce as much stress in your life as possible. Work and family life can cause much un-needed stress - however, learning to relax and limit the stress put on your body will definitely help keep high blood pressure under control.
